VERBS WE USE TO EXPRESS LIKES AND DISLIKES (p.17)

These are the main verbs to talk about likes and dislikes in English. They are Stative verbs, that is they are not normally used in continuous tenses.

They are usually followed by a gerund => Verb + -ing. These verbs that are used as gerunds are action verbs. Gerunds are actually used as nouns.

 Enjoy =απολαμβάνω  Like= αρέσει
 Hate = μισώ  Dislike = δεν αρέσει
 Detest = απεχθάνομαι  Prefer =προτιμώ
 Love = αγαπώ  

 

Το Γερούνδιο (Gerund) είναι ένα ρήμα που λειτουργεί σαν ουσιαστικό και αναφέρεται σε μια πράξη, μια διαδικασία ή μια κατάσταση. Τα γερούνδια σχηματίζονται προσθέτοντας την κατάληξη -ing στο τέλος του ρήματος.

Για παράδειγμα:
— “I like playing football.“ = Το γερούνδιο του ρήματος play είναι το playing.

Στα Ελληνικά το γερούνδιο μεταφράζεται ως να+ρήμα (υποτακτική) ή ως ουσιαστικό.

π.χ. I love swimming= Μου αρέσει να κολυμπώ ή μου αρέσει το κολύμπι.

Time to write a story

Imagine you are in 2050. Computers are totally different from what they look today. Think and write about future pcs. Let your imagination run free and wild.

Have these questions in mind:

What are they like?  What can they do? Are they smart, intelligent? How? What can you do with/on them? How many parts have they got? 

What’s your favourite pc like? What do you like doing on your pc?....

Don’t forget to write your name, introduce yourself and mention the place you live in.

* Use Present Simple, present continuous, can.., must…, like/love/hate/enjoy + noun or gerund,…

You can draw your PC or find a picture to go with your story.

Be careful! It's a story which means you have to write at least 3 paragraphs. Introduction, main body, conclusion (πρόλογος, κυρίως θέμα, επίλογος)

Download the word document on your pc to read the istructions. Be careful! It's a story which means you have to write at least 3 paragraphs. Introduction, main body, conclusion (πρόλογος, κυρίως θέμα , επίλογος) 

Write your story, insert a picture and upload the answer.
