CLIMATE DETECTIVES 2025

PROJECT TITLE: "Thassos: The Emerald Island  from a Space View "

    Our school, General Lyceum of Limena Thassos, is actively engaged in the Climate Detectives 2025 Program, an initiative by The European Space Agency (ESA) coordinated by Esero Greece. This program challenges students to contribute to research and conservation efforts for Earth's environment and climate.

Our team project is recognized in the top 10 of the best Greek projects submitted to this year's Climate Detectives 2024-2025.

Additionally, we gathered geographical information on ground motion, land cover and its changes from Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS), we designed 3D designs and printed.

To concentrate all our study on the environmental characteristics captured by the images of the corresponding indicators of the satellite data, we created a blog called e-Thassos_mas, to provide the description of each indicator, the images of the years 2016 and 2024 used for comparison, the observations and the results. Information and images from Copernicus EU website, are also used to derive results.
