Let's play the board games together!
These months we will participate in an e-twinning project and we will play a lot.
Our partners are from schools in Poland and Turkey.
General Information About Our Project
Watching the ideal world of famous influencers and playing with people of different ages and countries are very attractive to young people. They can relax from school, the hardships of everyday life, their friends, their families. Virtual reality allows them to be whoever they want to be at any given moment. Unfortunately, spending a lot of time online has a negative impact on various aspects of young people's lives. It affects not only their emotional or social development, but also affects their physical development. Young people are increasingly at risk of becoming addicted to screens. In this situation the role of parents and educators is to organize attractive offline activities or promote the value of spending time together outdoors. This requires a creative approach, understanding the needs of young people and their interests. One such activity can be creating board games together in international environment. We can create the space where our students can learn thtough the play, cooperate, work in groups and be creative. As teachers, we can show that you can enjoy offline activities by engaging in such activities ourselves.

MAKING AVATARS & INTRODUCING THEMSELVES
In the beginning of the project the students had to introduce themselves to the other participants. So they started by making an Avatar using a free online tool AvatarMaker. Everyone involved got their credentials, entered the platform, wrote short text about themselves and commented on others. So the goal was dual: learn how to use the Internet safely while using English.
By participating in this activity the students learned
*how to use the Internet safely
*how to use their credentials to enter the platform
*how to use online tools such as writing on a board
*how to make an avatar using free online tools

*used the target language -English- to write short texts to introduce themselves
*read the texts of the students from the participating schools and made comments
*heard the other students' messages on Voki

In March both students and parents answered the 1st questionnaire before starting the project.

We uploaded the photos and presentations to the esep page - while our students and their parents were watching e-safety webinars or presentations.

RESPONSIBLE TEACHERS: MUSTAFA CANKARA- CANAN COŞKUN
ALL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN OUR PROJECT WERE DIVIDED INTO MIXED GROUPS. FOR EACH GROUP, THE GAMES PLAYED DURING THE PROJECT WERE EXPLAINED WITH THE ACCOMPANYING TEACHERS AND EXPLANATIONS WERE MADE ABOUT HOW TO PLAY THEM. EACH GROUP PLAYED THE GAME GIVEN TO THEM.
THESE MEETINGS WERE HELD ONLINE.
THE PRODUCTS THAT EMERGED WERE EDITED BY GROUPS AND BROUGHT INTO AN E-BOOK. IN THIS WAY, DIFFERENT GROUPS WORKED IN INTERACTION.
JOINT PRODUCT


We brainstormed with all our friends during the design phase of our game. We decided to design it in 3 stages; physical activity, general knowledge and board games. We grouped the questions prepared by our teachers into our game template. Each group had a color. Students started the game by throwing dice. They answered the question group in the box according to the number they got. Students who knew the game continued by throwing dice again. The one who finished the game first won. While developing our general knowledge, we made it more enjoyable with physical activities and repeated the board games.

💻🎲 Turning Board Games into Digital Fun: A Proud eTwinning Moment!
One of the highlights of our eTwinning project came from our talented student, Egehan, who turned the board game we co-created as partner schools into a fully playable online version using the Scratch programming platform! 🧠✨
After designing and building the game physically with recycled materials, Egehan took it one step further—he coded the entire game into an interactive digital format. The result? A fun, colorful, and highly engaging online game that brought everyone together once more.
🎮 During a live Zoom meeting, our students had the chance to play the digital version of the game together. It was an incredibly enjoyable and educational experience, combining coding, collaboration, and creativity—the true spirit of eTwinning!
👏 Huge congratulations to Egehan for his innovation and hard work! He showed how student-led creativity and technology can go hand in hand to make learning exciting and accessible for all.
