Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The e-class was designed and implemented at the 2nd General Lyceum of Neapolis during the 2024-25 school year as part of the accredited Erasmus+ project (2024-1-EL01-K121-SCH-000209823) under the theme of well-being.

The following sections present a comprehensive teaching proposal consisting of activities for six teaching hours. This lesson, which focuses on Unit 4 of the school textbook "Fast Fashion", is part of the English curriculum for 10th-grade students (A' Lyceum).

The provided material includes a detailed lesson plan, a step-by-step description of the activities to be carried out in the English Language Lab and the ICT Lab, corresponding worksheets, links to online tools, sources, and sample files created by the teacher to support the activities.

The plan uses a student-centered, blended learning approach, combining collaborative learningproject-based learning (PBL), and the flipped classroom model. It encourages active participation, inquiry, and the use of digital tools to explore real-world issues related to environmental sustainability and well-being. Students conduct research, analyze case studies, and develop interactive presentations, promoting critical thinking. The integration of Web 2.0 tools (such as Genial.ly and Wakelet) supports the development of digital literacy and creativity.

In Activities 3 and 4, the flipped classroom technique is used. This allows students to engage with video and reading materials at home and use class time for deeper reflection and discussion.

Connection to the Curriculum:

An interdisciplinary approach has been adopted, integrating key subject areas and competences in alignment with the 21st-century learning framework and the Erasmus+ project’s thematic focus on well-being.

  • English Language (ΕΠΣ-ΞΓ): The scenario aligns with the principles of polygrammatism, aiming to develop students’ communicative competence, critical literacy, and intercultural understanding through the exploration of authentic, real-world topics. Language learning is contextualized within a meaningful theme—Environment and Well-Being—promoting linguistic and socio-cultural awareness.

  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): The integration of Web 2.0 tools (e.g., Genial.ly, Wakelet) enhances students’ digital literacy, creativity, and collaborative skills.

  • Environmental Education / Education for Sustainable Development: By addressing the topic of Environment and Well-Being, students are introduced to key environmental and ethical issues related to consumption and sustainability. The lesson fosters environmental awareness and encourages responsible decision-making, in line with the goals of sustainable development education and well-being.

  • Civic and Social Education: The scenario promotes active citizenship by encouraging students to reflect on their roles as consumers and global citizens. Through inquiry and collaborative tasks, they develop empathy, ethical reasoning, and a sense of social responsibility.
