The Structure of the Rhetoric στο https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/aristotle-rhetoric/

1st exercise: Discuss the content of the text that follows on 144pp,  focusing on the questions posed in the 1st Conditionals.

" If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"

1. Form teams

2. Before you watch, go to 146pp and read the text.

2b. What kind of a text is it? " The first book of the Rhetoric treats these three genres in succession. Rhetoric I.4–8 deals with the deliberative, I.9 with the epideictic, I.10–14 with the judicial genre". Do you need help? What would A.I. say about that? Go to Πολυμέσα to find out!

3. We will analyze that in terms of: Aristotle's 3 factor analysis, Logos-Ethos-Pathos: "argumentative persuasion (logos) ...in rhetorical speech...The second means of persuasion, the one that works by evoking the emotions of the audience (pathos), ...different types of character (êthos), ... the one that depends on the character of the speaker".

4. Your teacher is NOT an actress. You will hear the text from her. Do you think YOU could do a better job? Try it out.

5. After watching it twice we will do the exercises in 144-145pp

the summary can help students who missed some classes and want to keep up with the rest. It can also supportyou when doing "Εργασίες" & "Ασκήσεις"

This presentation will help you before your final character debate in 145pp. You do not necessarily need to follow all the suggestions and you will need to add elements of your own. Keep the notes you will be taking during classes. You will be given time to get prepared.

DEBATE- TIME 1' per student

1. When you do a SWOT analysis of your character, what are your strengths and why?

2. When you do a SWOT analysis of your character, what are your weaknesses and why?

3. What was your most anticipated opportunity and why?

4. What was your greatest threat? Could you have predicted it?

5. What is your biggest regret? What is the ONE thing you would have changed in the plot?

6. Who do you think is the best/worst character and why?

We need to evaluate the characters from time to time, so I have this type of analysis: SWOT!

Strengths -  Weaknesses  - Opportunities - Threats

Our favorite hero might change. Each scene creates new criteria. So, at the end of each scene we will be using "Plickers" cards to vote for our favorite hero.
